Final Reflection
Although
I believe I still have many things to learn, I can assure you that the
practice period has been one of the most enriching and meaningful
experience I have ever had at the teacher training college. This
workshop has helped me overcome all my fears and uncertainties about
teaching, and actually enjoyed it. Planning, putting plans into practice
with real students and receiving feedback; I can now say I tried out
all the theory I’ve been learning at college.
Though
hard and intense, the practice period has been really rewarding. I feel
that I’ve learnt different things that are not in books, such as
establishing close rapport with students, adapting plans and lessons,
dealing with unexpected problems, but above all standing in front of a
course teaching something new to students. The practices have allowed me
to get to know teenagers and their different personalities and tastes,
to understand how they feel or what they want to do and make informed
decisions adapting myself to the situation.
Not
only have I learnt from my own experience, but also from my peers’
.Observing those who were in my same situation, helped me realise that
we may all have the same problems, fears and doubts. I could profit from
creative teaching techniques and ideas that I later used in my own
plans.
In
short, though there’s still much more to learn, I believe that this
experience has been a key point in my studies and in my life. I now feel
much more confident about my performance as teacher-to-be.
